Reception 

 

To work on the reception desk, greeting people in person and on the telephone, dealing with enquiries, logging and referring all calls to the appropriate staff member or taking messages when appropriate.

 

You will be able to maintain Charity Log records which is a computer based client record system. Although training will be given on how to use Charity Log, basic knowledge of computer is essential. We ask a minimum of a four-hour commitment per week.

 

Skills required:

  • A good telephone manner.

  • Welcoming visitors by greeting them in person or on the telephone.

  • Answering or referring enquires.

  • Liaise between the members of the public and staff members.

  • Make appropriate appointments.

  • Maintain Charity Log which requires a good degree of computer knowledge.

Disability Advice and Benefits Administration

To work and assist the Disability Advice and Benefits Administrator with general duties and cover reception desk when required. You will be able to file and update files, copy, scan and re-name documents. You will be able to create Charity Log files; which training will be given. You will be able to attach files to computer based system.

Skills required:

  • Basic knowledge of computing and be willing to learn new skills.

  • Basic office skills.

  • Be able to communicate with the work team and occasionally the general public.

Social Activities Support

 

To support the delivery of our social activities, helping to create a welcoming, inclusive and enjoyable environment for all participants. This may include assisting with setting up activities, engaging with members, and offering general support to ensure everyone feels comfortable and included.

 

You may be involved in a variety of sessions such as group activities, games, creative sessions, and community outings. The role is flexible and can be tailored to suit your interests and availability.

 

Skills required:

  • Friendly, approachable, and supportive manner.

  • Ability to engage with a wide range of people.

  • Willingness to encourage participation and inclusion.

  • Ability to work as part of a team.

  • Patience, understanding, and a positive attitude.

 

Social Activities Administration

 

To assist with the administration and organisation of social activities, supporting the Social Activity Coordinator with the smooth running of sessions and planning of future events.

 

Duties may include updating records, assisting with attendance registers, helping to organise activity schedules, preparing materials, and supporting communication with members.

 

You will also support the use of Charity Log where required, with training provided.

 

Skills required:

  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn.

  • Good organisational skills.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and members.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

Fundraising

 

We hold many fundraising events throughout the year which involve things like charity bag packing at the supermarket, collection days, table top sales, car boot sales and our extremely popular Christmas Grotto. We would hold your name on a database of people we would call when we are planning an event to see if you can assist us on the day.

 

Ideally you would be able to assist with at least two of our planned events throughout the year.

 

Skills required:

  • Ability to be friendly and approachable and engage with members of the public.

  • To work as part of a team.
