BDDA provides a wide range of services from advice on specific disability issues to delivering a community-based social and activity programme. The centre provides a venue for delivery of educational and recreational courses, houses a cafe and complementary treatment room, offers a hire service from wheelchairs to minibus and acts as the hub for the disabled community of the district.
This section of the website introduces the main services that BDDA provide and some of the ways in which they can be accessed.
For further details about our Advice Shop or Training and Education, please go to the appropriate page using the link opposite
To find out more about any of the topics or issues included, please contact the centre either in person, by telephone or via e-mail or the website enquiry page, where your request will be dealt with by a trained staff member.

Transport for the disabled is always a concern. Hire of the BDDA Volkswagen Shuttle minibus might provide the solution to some of these concerns. It’s a comfortable size to drive being about the same chassis size as a people-carrier or large estate car and can carry up to nine people (including the driver) or up to 6 people with two narrow wheelchairs.
It is in excellent condition and is currently available to hire for just 70p per mile (a small, minimum hire fee applies).
In the past we have hired out the minibus for family trips, wedding parties, holidays and even funerals, basically any journey that requires the transportation of a group of people in a very economical way.

Mobility impaired people often face problems in getting about. For some a wheelchair is the answer but may only be needed on a few occasions or for a short period.
At BDDA we have several manual wheelchairs available for hire for at anything from a day to longer period for say a holiday. We do not set a fee for the hire of our wheelchairs, instead we feel it more appropriate that a small donation is made to the organisation.

This is a very popular group within BDDA - and there is usually a waiting list to join! The Social Club meet at the centre on Wednesday evenings between 6.30pm and 9:00pm.
A wide variety of social events and activities are organised based both at the centre and around the district. Members enjoy games of bingo and cards, sporting events, tenpin bowling, videos nights, dining out and trips to a range of attractions and entertainments.

BDDA are fortunate to have the services of a resident, professional, therapist, Margaret Hall. Margaret can provide homeopathic advice and preparations, a fascinating and useful method of dealing with both everyday and complex medical conditions.

Bowen Technique - manipulation of the body’s soft tissues
Indian Head Massage - manipulation applied to the upper body and head
Reiki Therapy - healing through transference of energy
The service is professional and confidential.
